Does God Promise Long Life?
Over the last 10 years or so I have met several people who had very irrational fears of dying "young." When I asked them what they felt was "young," they said they did not expect to live past an age range of 40-55 years of age. They did not expect to live up to an age range of 70-90 years.
When I asked them why they felt this way - the answer I always got was because one of their parents had died young - usually in their 40's or 50's. I guess they thought there was some kind of curse on them - and what happened to one of their parents was going to eventually happen to them.
What does the Bible have to say about God wanting us to live long lives? For those of you who are not aware of these verses from Scripture - I think you will be pleasantly surprised to find that God does want some of His people living long lives down here on earth - and that this is a particular blessing that He can grant to us if we are willing to meet certain conditions under the New Covenant that we now have with Jesus.
I think the two main reasons God would like a lot of His people to have these long lives is so that they can complete whatever mission, purpose or call that God has set on their lives and also for them to be able to enjoy the fruit of all of their efforts before they go home to be with Him.
I think the greatest example of this would be in our marriages. I think God wants to give us the ability to grow old so we can watch all of our children grow up, then watch them get married and have their own children making you grandparents. You have put forth a tremendous amount of time, effort and energy raising your children to be good, God-fearing and law abiding adults. Now God wants you to be able to sit back, relax and watch your children fruit out as the men and women that He wants them to be in Him.
You have the rest of eternity to spend with God on the other side - but you only have one chance down here on this earth to watch your children physically grow up right before your very eyes. Once we all enter into heaven - we will all be "set" at a certain age. Never again will you be able to see your son or daughter grow up physically, emotionally and spiritually right before your very eyes. You only get once chance down here on this earth to see this event occur and I think God would like to give more of His people this long life blessing so they can see all of this take place in their lifetime.
If you would like to see all of the Scripture verses pertaining to this particular blessing and the conditions that must be met before God would consider giving you this long life blessing, go to http://www.bible-knowledge.com/Does-God-Promise-Long-Life.html for complete copy of this article. In this article, we will give you some of the main Scripture verses showing you that God can and does want to give this type of blessing to some of His people. There is also good commentary on why God may sovereignly choose to withhold this blessing from some of His people. God is still sovereign in all of His ways - including who He will choose to grant this long life blessing to and who He will not.

Religion and Social Engineering - Part of an Introduction
Thomas Carlyle is just one of the interesting characters who had much to do with Calvinism and the Knox family he married into. Friedrich Nietzsche never really completed a book and yet before he went crazy his Wagnerian or Illuminized 'radical aristocratic' handlers used him well.

Ark of the Covenant - Purpose
Hold on to your hat! Here comes one of the most, incredible stories of ancient technology, which ranks alongside the use of atomic forces and the 'Lost Chord'. Needless to say the editors of Scientific American who denied the Wright brothers had achieved airborne flight for months after Kitty Hawk won't or wouldn't believe this 'doozy'.
The Catholic Obsession with Martyrs and the Question of Pain and Suffering

Development of Liberal Theology: An Overview (Part 3)
As senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of New York, Fosdick preached a sermon one Sunday in 1922 that aroused the righteous indignation of fundamentalists and he suddenly found himself at the center of a heated theological controversy. In order to understand the tension that existed between fundamentalism and modernism, it is necessary that I briefly delineate the fundamentalist position at that time.
Accountability and Such Nonsense
From the late 1970's through the 1980's, my wife and I were members of an authoritarian Bible cult. Not only were we members, but we were full time, unpaid leaders.

The Great White Throne Judgment
Before we get the new heaven and new earth, there is one more event that must take place - the Great White Throne Judgment. In my last article, Satan is Let Loose One More Time, you saw that Satan will end up in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone forever and ever - never to bother, harm or tempt humans ever again! Now what happens to the rest of unsaved humanity? They will all come before God in what is called the Great White Throne Judgment.

Growing in the Knowledge of God
This first verse completely sets the stage for you to be able to receive knowledge from the Lord. This first verse is literally telling us that God is wanting us to grow in the knowledge of Him and His Son Jesus.

There is a new term being thrown around "phenophilia", no one can spell it and I cannot even be sure if this is the correct spelling. Even fewer know what it means; it is the molesting of teenage boys, which is different then that of pedophilia, which is the molesting and petting of children.
Moslem America Part 2
2 Corinthians 2:6-2:14Moslem America part 2. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
End-Times and the Other Bible
Can you imagine Biblical "End-Times" prophecies happening in your lifetime? Does thinking about disasters like the three days of darkness and the Wormwood predictions trouble you when you're alone in the still of the night? If so, the "End-times" knowledge in a Bible-era wisdom text called The Kolbrin offers hope through new insights. Parts of it were written in the very days when Jesus walked the Earth, and it echoes the warnings of the Bible, that we could be in the "End-Times!"Unlike the rare and arcane texts used by Bible researchers, The Kolbrin offers a familiar way to understand Bible prophecy.
This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. JOHN 15:8Can you imagine the fruit of six million lighthouses across America praying for, caring for, and sharing Jesus Christ with their neighbors, friends, and family?I can imagine it, but there was a time when I couldn't have.
